Watford reignite Marco Silva feud by trolling Gary Lineker over comments on former boss. Watford have reignited their feud with former boss Marco Silva.
Silva was sacked by Watford exactly a year ago just months into his reign after Everton set their sights on the Portuguese to replace Ronald Koeman.
Silva moved to Goodison Park in the summer and is at the centre of the bad blood between the two clubs, with Watford reporting Everton to the Premier League over allegedly making an illegal approach.
Watford are currently seventh in the table with Everton languishing in 11th following their defeat to Southampton .
And the Hornets couldn't resist a sly dig at their former boss as they dug out a tweet posted by Gary Lineker following Silva's departure a year ago.
Match of the Day host Lineker branded the decision to axe Silva as "absurd".
"He will be snapped up very quickly and Watford will almost certainly get someone less talented," he posted.
Watford, who are now managed by Javi Gracia, hit back on Monday as they responded with "This aged well..."
Unsurprisingly, Lineker was quick to reply to the jibe and suggested the initial tweet was insulting to their former boss.
"Yes, football can and will prove us wrong on many occasions, and I’ve already stated that that may be the case again here," he posted.
"But the sacking of managers is not something I often support and do find this tweet rather disrespectful of your former manager."
Silva has already come in for pressure at Goodison with his side in a poor run of form.
They sat sixth at the start of December but have won just two of their last 10 matches since then.
