The Reds splashed out £67million on the goalkeeper, making him the most expensive shot-stopper in the world ahead of Chelsea signing Kepa Arrizabalaga, following their disastrous Champions League final.
Liverpool went into that particular match in Kiev with the belief they could win the trophy for the first time since 2005, and kept pace with Zinedine Zidane's Los Blancos.

But two dreadful mistakes by Loris Karius resulted in two goals for the Spanish giants, and the Reds were unable to complete the fairytale.
In the summer Klopp made it his priority signing a keeper and decided Alisson would be the right man for the job.
The German was obviously impressed by what he saw of the shot-stopper in Liverpool's Champions League semi-final win over Roma, and wasted no time snapping up the keeper.
Alisson settled in quickly at Anfield, and has done an incredible job of shoring up the Reds' defence alongside the talented back four.
As a result Liverpool have conceded just eight times in 20 matches - a staggering eight fewer than title rivals Manchester City.
And Klopp has admitted he's been surprised by just how good the Brazilian has been.
When asked which Liverpool player has surprised him this season, Klopp told ESPN Brasil: "Well, maybe that Ali is such a good football player.
"It was always very clear that he was a very influential player with the ball, but that he's this good I didn't see it, honestly - maybe because of a different style Roma played.
"That was a little bit of a surprise, and a very nice surprise."
